Legal translation is the favourite domain of Global Lingua Services, since it requires specific transposition techniques never encountered in any other translation discipline. In fact, every legal system is characterised by its own singularity and logic, meaning that the translator must grasp the deeper meaning of a text thought up and constructed in a foreign language which draws upon its own defined legal system, before he can perform a translation in the client’s target language.

In this field the translation is both a matter of languages and of comparative law. Besides simply translating the words, the relevant concepts of legal institutions common among native speakers of the source language must be carefully rendered as well.

Because a legal translation touches more domains than law itself, it is a basic requirement that the skills of the legal translator comprise “general” technical domains as well, taking into account the fact that legal translations can range from simple employment contracts to much more complex texts such as laws meant for publication.
