Technical translation concerns the of texts that focus on an art, a science, an activity, certain know-how or the functioning of a machine.
A technical translator has to proof that he/she masters his/her mother tongue perfectly and has a thorough knowledge of the source language, as well as:
- and knowledge (products, systems, product families, manufacturing principles, use, scientific explanations, functioning) proper to a scientific translator and mostly in combination with the terminology in the studied foreign languages
- a translation that is based on specialised languages and intercultural knowlegde
- competences that computing tools can offer matching the previous 2 points…
During the translations, we compile a glossary with technical terms that we submit to in order to allow them to validate our suggestions if they require. This glossary is archived and allows us to ensure a perfect coherence between the translated document and any subsequent translations. |
